It’s great if you decided to ditch the cheap, grocery store razors and now you’re using a quality, double edge razor, but you’ll need some decent blades in order to get the job done right.

After a researching the top brands that DE razor users love, we have narrowed down the options for you.

Check out the best double edge razor blades on our list below to help you find the right blades for your beard!

A Few Things to Consider

Before you select a blade, here are a few things to consider:

  • Beard and Skin. The blade you choose depends on texture and coarseness of your beard, as well as your skin.

If the blade doesn’t contact your face well and you have to make several passes, then you may have a blade that is too mild. You might also need to increase the blade gap.

Others may feel that the blade is too sharp (get something more mild or that exposes less) or if you have to apply too much pressure, then you may need a sharper blade.

Sensitive skin, razor burn, acne, etc. can all effect your blade choice.

The number one thing to remember while you’re blade shopping? Trial and error. You will probably need to test a few before you find the right one.

  • New or Experienced. If you’re new to wet shaving, then you should start out with a mild blade and work your way up. The length of your facial hair, the frequency of your shaves and, as we already mentioned, the texture of your facial hair will all determine which blade works best for you.

If you’re experienced and have been wet shaving for a while and you just want a new brand of blades, then keep reading!

We have some great suggestions for everyone below.

You’ll find that there are also test packs to help you try several brands without investing in 100 count. Once you find the ones you like, start getting them in bulk

Blade Care

Most blades out there are made of stainless steel and they have special coatings to help prevent the rust from forming.

There are a few things you can do to help make sure that your blades and your razor remain in good conditions.

  • Don’t Rub It. Once you’re done using the razor, avoid rubbing the blade with a towel or anything else. This may cause the coating to come off.
  • Replace. Replace the blade after around the fifth or seventh shave. If you leave it in longer, it may cause rust to form on the razor itself.

Once you get to around seven shaves, the blade will probably be too dull to give you a close shave anyways, so to prevent rust and get a close shave every time, replace them regularly.

Blade Disposal

It’s a good idea, for your safety and everyone else in your home, to get a blade disposal container.

The blades can cut holes in your regular garbage sacks and if you have little ones or pets in your home, it’s best to avoid risking injury.

Disposable containers come in all shapes and sizes, so find one that fits in your shaving cupboard or drawer.

Top 3 Best Double Edge Razor Blades Reviews

1. Feather Razor Blade Double Edge

A favorite of experienced DE shavers around the globe, the Feather blades are definitely some of the best double edge razor blades out there.

They perform so well thanks to their sharpness, which allows the razor to glide across your face, requiring little pressure from you as you pass over.

These classic platinum-coated stainless steel blades are great for the experienced wet shaver who has tried a lot of other blades but hasn’t quite found the one that offers them the results they were hoping for.

Feathers are top of the line and worth the extra money if you are serious about your shaving routine.

2. Gillette Silver Blue Double Edge

If you are new to wet shaving, then you might start out with these Gillette Silver Blue blades.

The blade’s sharpness is designed to be gentle yet effective, removing those coarse whiskers from even the most stubborn of beards. They aren’t as aggressive as some of the super sharp blades, which is great if you have sensitive skin.

Even for longer whiskers, this will allow you to glide right through them without having to tug and repass.

They are definitely worth a try if you’re just starting out or if you find that some of the other blades have been too aggressive on your skin.

3. Wilkinson Sword Classic Double Edge

These Wilkinson Sword blades are pretty awesome.

They feature a triple coating of chromium to help resist corrosion and coating of PTFE, which give you a smooth, comfortable shave with less irritation afterward.

While the Feathers (number one on our list) are superb and have a very sharp edge, some experience post-shave irritation with them.

If you have this type of problem with Feathers, or other blades like them, then you might just have luck with the Wilkinsons.

These are great if you need a more mild blade (not as sharp as the Feathers).
