6 Best Norelco Shavers 2022
The Philips brand has been around a long time: 1891 to be exact.
What started as a father/son business in the Netherlands to manufacture incandescent lamps and other electrical products is now a household name across the globe, and you want to know which is their best Norelco shaver!
Since they’re always working to update, enhance and improve various models of their shavers, we’ll be taking a look at today’s top picks in our guide below.
Whether you’ve been using Philips for years or you’re new to the shaving world, we have plenty of useful tips for everyone.
Where to Begin
Use process of elimination to determine what kind of shaver is right for you:
- Wet or Dry? Decide if you want a dry shave or if you’ll be doing a mixture of wet and dry shaving.
Wet shavers can be used either way, but dry shavers are designed for dry shaves only.
- Number of Speeds. Speed options and being able to choose a higher speed doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to shave more quickly.
Blades with higher cycles per minute will cut more accurately, and if you run over thicker, longer patches of hair, being able to increase the speed will help you cut the hairs smoothly and evenly.
- Bells & Whistles. Some come with an automatic cleaning and lubrication system while others keep it pretty simple (on/off switch, trimmer and shaver head).
If you’re not really going to take advantage of the fancy features, then it’s pointless to invest money on a higher end shaver.
Choose what you need and what feels most comfortable rather than buying because it can do everything.

The Options
Norelco has come out with quite a few model series throughout the years, ranging from 1000 up to 9000.
Improvements are made, features are altered, new materials are used to in the production phase…it’s the natural process that any product goes through in the manufacturing process. Sometimes previous versions are better than the latest ones, so we’ll highlight the top picks below.
One thing you’ll notice that’s missing from the Norelco line is a serious foil shaver.
They focus mostly on rotary shavers and only have a couple of hybrid options with a foil shaver and beard trimming possibilities
- Rotary. We found the Philips Norelco Electric Shaver 8900 to be the best Norelco shaver with rotary blades. We’ll be discussing it below if you’d like to find out the details.
Their wet/dry shavers perform quite well, so if you’re a guy who likes to shave in the shower sometimes or pass over a dry face, Norelco’s rotaries are an excellent choice.
- Hybrid. If you need something to trim and maintain a beard, then these hybrids from Norelco aren’t half-bad.
Number 1 on our list is a very good example of one (we’ll be talking about it below), and they also offer a smaller version (number 4 above) that’s probably great for the gym bag or travel.
Again, these are best for “detail work,” so to speak. For a closer shave, you’ll need a good rotary shaver.
Top 3 Best Norelco Shaver Reviews
1. Philips Norelco All-in-one styler & shaver

This is one of the few Norelco’s that has a foil shaver, and being a hybrid, it also works as a styler so you can fine-tune the details.
One feature we really like is the rotating trimmer head. One side is wider so you can work on larger outlines and sideburns, but when you turn the trimmer head around, the other side is narrower and allows you to get into the hard-to-reach areas (under the nose, around the mouth, etc.)
The beard comb has 12 different length settings and it is also water resistant so you can rinse it off when you’re done.
Again, this is the sort of tool that comes in handy when you have a beard to maintain. If you want a clean, close shave, then you should have a look at the next two options.
2. Philips Norelco Electric shaver 3100

This rotary shaver is an excellent option if you’re on a budget or you just don’t need one with all the fancy bells and whistles.
It features 4-direction flex and floating heads to help you trim hairs on all of the curves of your face.
Is this going to give you a smooth-as-a-baby’s-bottom shave? No, but it does a pretty good job.
We’d rate this as a “good shave” but not the best in our lives. A no-nonsense shaver at a fair price. Great for trimming, too!
3. Philips Norelco Electric Shaver 8900

Here’s where we step it up a notch.
The 8900 is a wet/dry shaver that cuts 20% more hair in a single pass and 30% closer to the skin than some of Norelco’s simpler models, and it also comes with a handy click-on beard styler with five different length settings. It really contours to the face well and it lifts the hairs as you pass so that it can cut them below the skin level (comfortably!)
Whether you’re looking for a smooth shave all over or something that allows you to easily switch between face and beard, this is an excellent model.
It does run quietly, too, which others in the household will appreciate!
